Job Mission

Being a part of the Performance team, you can expect to work on a real-time bidding system that makes over a billion auction bids a day. Our goal is to build the algorithm that places the bids that achieve the goals of our clients' marketing campaigns. Your mission is to understand and improve a system of humans, predictive models, control modules and decision algorithms.

The job involves working with http-based services processing thousands of requests per second in Go, building control algorithms and statistical models, and to experiment, iterate and learn what works. We expect you to work closely with machine learning and engineering teams to build high-quality products. We also expect you to work with operational teams to build high-impact solutions.

About the Team

Our team consists of Data Scientists and Software Engineers from diverse backgrounds, and are now looking for a new joiner to take us further on our mission. You will love working with us if you are a software engineer with a passion for algorithmic-decision making. On a day-to-day basis we value working flexibly and independently but enjoy discussing our understanding and putting our heads together to crack hard problems. We prefer a working solution to a perfect one in code or statistics but enjoy knowing the elegant solution even when we decide against it.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new algorithms and statistical models with our data scientists
  • Define technical solutions and implementation plans for product improvements
  • Monitor and measure the impact of code changes using tools like druid, bigquery, and prometheus.
  • Run experiments to understand algorithm and model behavior
  • Diagnose, fix and explain causes for unexpected campaign behavior

Job Requirements

  • Several years of software engineering experience in Go and development best practices (test design and CI unit testing, environment management, version control).
  • Experience in working with cloud platforms for large-scale data processing and model deployment (e.g. Druid, Google BigQuery, Prometheus).
  • Some experience in statistics: evaluation metrics and principles, experiment design and evaluation, data selection issues, exploratory data analysis on large scale.
  • Experience in algorithmic decision-making like predictive models, controllers, optimization

Bonus points if you:

  • Have experience in real-time bidding and programmatic advertising
  • Have previously worked on implementing and tuning custom neural networks in Tensorflow

Our promise

  • Unlimited vacation days - for real. We give you the freedom to figure out the most productive work-life balance for you
  • Mentorship program for technical and non-technical skills
  • A truly modern place to work: work from home, from our brand new office in Berlin, or remotely - your work environment is yours to design
  • Generous remuneration package including virtual shares, a dedicated education budget
  • End of the year bonus determined by company performance
  • Enrol in our Short Term Assignment (STA) program and travel to our offices around the globe for up to a month - subject to eligibility and internal policy
  • Comfortable work setup - laptop, phone, screen(s), standing desk etc.
  • Support for your setup while working from home
  • Wellness benefits such as sports memberships, Nilo Health subscription and internet reimbursements
  • Company events including breakfast twice a week, team lunches, birthday and milestone celebrations, quarterly team events and company-wide parties & trips
