Remerge outperformed Flip's CPA target by 40%

Flip is an Indonesian financial technology company and leading consumer payment platform. Founded in 2015, the company helps people and businesses process multiple types of financial transactions, such as domestic interbank transfers, international transfers, e-wallet top-ups, bills and payment, and phone credits.

Driving more in-app conversions

The Challenge

While individual users and businesses use Flip to securely and cost-effectively send money to more than 100 banks in Indonesia and over 50 countries, Flip wanted to increase in-app conversions from new users that have not sent any money yet. Flip partnered with Remerge, a pioneer of in-app retargeting since 2014, to develop an effective re-engagement strategy aimed at encouraging new users to make their first financial transaction.

Finding the right solution

Segmenting users based on the buyer funnel

Users were segmented based on registration and last app open events, allowing for efficient targeting of new users who registered but had not completed a transfer conversion.

Providing creative workshops and ad design enhancements

Remerge’s in-house design team held a creative workshop with Flip to improve the quality of the ad assets. The best-performing creatives featured attractive prizes, and interstitial and native ads were identified as the highest-performing formats. Video ads were paused due to low performance, and GIFs were introduced, which helped drive in-app conversions.

Leveraging Remerge's proprietary bid multipliers

Collaboration with Flip over a four-month period involved weekly campaign optimizations to improve bidding efficiency. The platform's bid multiplier feature was used to adapt maximum bids according to the estimated value of the inventory based on supply partner, creative format, and user segment.

Exceeding CPA targets

The Results

By collaborating with Remerge, Flip exceeded its overall cost per action (CPA) target by more than 40%.

Through in-house incrementality measurement, a 4.2% uplift in Flip's conversion rate was recorded.
