Remerge Announces $3M Series A and US Expansion with San Francisco Office Opening

Mobile App Retargeting startup Remerge today announced a $3M Series A round led by Point Nine Capital and its San Francisco office opening to fuel its US expansion.

Remerge was founded in 2014 by a group of five serial entrepreneurs with extensive experience in the AdTech industry. Headquartered in Berlin, Remerge is the first AdTech platform built with the sole mission of streamlining the app-to-app retargeting process. By re-engaging lapsed users inside other apps, Remerge helps app marketers increase their active user base and drive incremental in-app purchases. The platform is complementing paid user acquisition efforts by targeting the majority of app users who are dormant or non-purchasers.

Remerge CEO Pan Katsukis, who previously co-founded madvertise, said: “We are thrilled to see our customers achieve such great results via our technology-heavy approach to app retargeting. The additional funding will allow us to further improve our technology and the services to our US-based customers by opening an office in San Francisco.”

The Series A round was also contributed to by VC Fonds Technologie Berlin managed by IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft and existing shareholders including German Startups Group and WestTech Ventures.

Remerge streamlines the app retargeting process, offering first party data access without the need to integrate an SDK, dynamic audience segmentation, and a highly scalable programmatic app-to-app retargeting infrastructure. Its optimisation engine predicts user click and purchase intent based on real-time data to maximise the return on ad spend for its advertisers. Remerge already re-engages app users in 39 countries and counts companies including Foodpanda, Product Madness and Funstage as its customers.

After launching less than a year ago, Remerge is already analysing and dynamically segmenting millions of user events every month. Remerge leverages large volumes of granular data to effectively engage and convert customers on behalf of app advertisers by accessing 260,000 users per second across 330,000 apps globally. For example, app developers can segment all users who have installed their app and already made a purchase, but haven’t opened the app in 14 days. Remerge targets these users, while they are inside another app, with a highly personalised display ad in order to re-engage them.

CRO and co-founder Benjamin Beivers has relocated to San Francisco to build the company’s new US-based team. Beivers will be joined by key new hire and Director of Business Development and Sales, Irina Seals. Irina joins Remerge from Chartboost, where she worked with major US gaming companies to help grow their business on the Chartboost platform. She previously worked at mopay, a German startup, where she helped the company build a strong US presence.
